Autism, ADHD and so much more.
When you feel and see and hear the world differently there is always something to say.
Many people feel and see and hear the world differently and yet there are far too many myths, misconceptions and misunderstandings. These leave people feeling isolated and scared to admit their difference. Others may not yet recognise why they feel different. I challenge and change perceptions of Autism and ADHD with descriptions that are short, honest and approachable. Until we share and care more many of us will still live in a society that can feel very unfriendly to difference.
Living an autistic and ADHD life. What's it really like? I explore how I feel the world differently and challenge the myths, the misunderstanding and the misconceptions.
I am not sure that society understands the many ways that people feel, and hear, and see the world differently. And I would like us to change that.
The negative language and lists of deficits and impairments drive the stereotypes and make people reluctant to recognise or identify that they may be neurodivergent or neurodifferent. I am autistic, ADHD and dyspraxic but so many other conditions and issues affect neurology. Some we are born with and some, like depression, anxiety, PTSD and CPTSD, we acquire through life and trauma, abuse and accident.
I hope that we can share stories about the ways that we feel and see and hear the world and that the world will begin to understand.
I offer business, hospitality, healthcare and educational establishments the opportunity to improve inclusion, equality and awareness of difference.
I have created The Sensory Experiences Project to collect and publish stories to facilitate change in attitudes and environments. If you have a story to share, please get in touch to join our group.
I have a short collection of my presentations exploring autistic traits available on Amazon and have published my research dissertation into whether society can ever be autism friendly. The answer was sadly no at the moment. And I hope to change and challenge this by bringing together many voices describing the amazing ways that people feel the world differently. Different but equal; equal but different.
