Our voices; our way.
If you feel the world differently and would like to live in a society that is more friendly to neuro differences, then please join our project and share your story.
I have posted a much longer piece about this because, as I always say, I would have said less, but I didn’t have the time!
So, for the short version. There are loads of academic papers about us. There are autobiographical books and there are a few compilations but mainly with words of specialists or invited guests. I am going to create a book of all of our voices with no exclusions.
Anyone who feels, or sees, or hears the world differently is welcome. Neuro differences can come from being autistic, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, alexithymia and associated conditions such as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many of us have a good selection of all of these. With or without diagnosis. If you feel the world differently then it would be wonderful to hear your story.
But not another book in which neuro different communities talk to each other. We will only have a chance of a more accepting and friendly society if they understand that our differences are real.
Different but equal; equal but different.
I have a short collection of my presentations created for education, business and hospitality. We need to explain in ways and with words that others will understand. Relatable to a neurotypical. I have lots of videos explaining this but will create a new channel especially for the sensory experiences.
I hope that we can explore, unpick and challenge the stereotypes. If lighting hurts us, I want to describe this in ways that make outsiders understand. Lots of NTs think that we are all the same. We are certainly all neurodiverse. But we don’t all feel the world in the same way. Just because our sensory experiences sound unbelievable, it doesn’t mean that they are. If you have amazing, wonderful and even weird ways of feeling the world, please get in touch.
